Autumn so far has felt like a true blooming season for my music and creativity.
From releasing two new songs on Spotify, being featured in IndieDream, applying to perform at the Maleny Music Festival, and sharing more of my journey through creative reels on Instagram — the energy has been alive and rising.
I capped off April with a trip out west, guitar in hand, boots on and a clear mind.

Spotify Releases: Star Dust and Soul Density
This autumn marked the release of two of my songs — Star Dust and Soul Density — both recorded in my home studio.
For a long time, I held back from uploading to Spotify, feeling like my recordings weren’t “good enough.” But that never stopped me from learning and improving.
At one point, I was recording with a Shure SM58 — a trusted and versatile dynamic mic — but eventually shifted to using a condenser mic.

The change made a big difference. The condenser captured more detail and nuance in my voice, picking up the tone and timbre in a way that felt closer to what I hear when I sing. To help with sound isolation, I set up a small fold-around vocal booth around the mic. I also used a Shure SM57 to mic up my guitar — simple, reliable gear that helped me capture a cleaner, more balanced sound overall.
Though the recordings still aren’t exactly where I want them to be, I’m proud of how far I’ve come — and I’ll keep learning, refining, and growing with every song I share.
Featured in IndieDream Magazine
A lovely surprise this season was having my song 'Star Dust' featured in IndieDream, a platform that supports and celebrates emerging indie artists. The article is written in Spanish — a sweet reminder that music speaks across language.
They described my songs as "a rich indie folk experience that dissolves the separation between the cosmic and the earthly, inviting listeners into a hypnotic journey where sounds and emotions float together in perfect melodic harmony."
Reading their words was both encouraging and a little unexpected. It gave me a fresh perspective on my own sound, and reminded me how powerful it can be to simply put the work out there and let it be received in its own way.

Sharing in Motion: Instagram Reels
Lately, I’ve been exploring new ways to share my music visually — blending footage of me playing, singing, or dancing with elements from nature like the ocean or fire.
Sometimes I film in my studio, and other times I use clips from the road — like my recent trip out west, where I recorded songs surrounded by trees and stillness.
The visual elements I use are often symbolic, chosen to reflect the feeling or theme of the song — like candlelight for Fire, or ocean waves for Star Dust.

Many of these clips are raw creative pieces — playful experiments that I create intuitively. And honestly, they’ve been a lot of fun to make.
Songs Under Open Skies: Bush Trip West
Toward the end of April, I took a trip out west — slowing down and enjoying the open countryside. Guitar in hand, I’d head into the bush and record myself playing some of my songs, just using my phone.

These were raw recordings — just me, the music, and the surrounding bush. Unpolished, but full of presence. Honest in a way that only quiet places can bring out.
I’ll be sharing a few of those recordings and moments on Instagram soon. If you'd like to follow along, like, or share, you can find me there: 📲 Follow on Instagram

While I was immersed in the landscape with my guitar, my highly talented sister Julie was capturing key moments from our trip — through beautiful portraits and paintings of the surrounding bush. Her artworks reflect the same spirit and stillness that shaped our trip.

A Season of Quiet Growth

Looking back over the past few months, I’m reminded that creativity doesn’t always arrive in loud moments — sometimes it comes quietly, in small choices, in saying yes to things that feel true.
Releasing music, applying for Maleny Music Festival, making reels, recording in the bush — each step has been part of a season of soft growth and creative trust. Thanks for being here and sharing in it with me.
If you’d like to keep following the journey, you can find my music on Spotify, and more behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram.
There’s more to come — and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Fab post Chrissy I enjoyed learning more about your recording process, especially about how the condenser helped you capture your voice in a way that felt true to you.
